Smooth Install Tips

Account Holder: The account holder must be present when the technician arrives and throughout the install. Don’t schedule an appointment if you don’t have time to be there during the entire install. The technician will need the appropriate time to complete the job successfully. If plans change and something comes up where the account holder cannot be at the residence for the install, make sure a copy of account holders I.D. and a letter giving another person authorization to be there for the install is provided to the technician upon arrival.

Contact Number: Make sure your telephone number is always up to date with Comcast. This allows an installation or trouble call technician to give you a pre-call before arriving at your residence. A pre-call is standard procedure.

Appointment Time Frame: Make sure you are home for your appointment time frame. If your appointment is between 8-11, make sure you are home at 8am. 1-4 make sure you are home at 1pm. 3-5 make sure you are home at 3pm. 4-6 make sure you are home at 4pm. The technician has mutiple customers within these time frames and they route them in order, depending on the job task. The technician needs you home during your whole time frame. The technician should not have to wait on you to get home. If your appointment is at 1pm and the technikcian drives out to your home and you are not there, that is time he could have used at another install with the same time frame. This is why a valid phone number is a plus so the technician can pre-call you to make sure you are home before taking the time to drive there without knowing. if you are there or not. This is a big reason for a technician to miss a time frame.

Moving: If you are moving into a new place where the services will be installed. Make sure if your installation date is the same as your move in date, you have all equipment needed for the install at the property. If you’re getting cable, make sure your T.V. is on site. Internet, make sure your computer is set up and on site. Make sure your computer is free of viruses. Telephone service, it is not necessary to have a phone at the time of install but helpful. The installer has a test phone they can use to set up telephone service.

Renters: Make sure before the technician arrives at you residence, you have discussed with your landlord that you are ordering cable, internet or phone service. Make sure it is ok with them, in case the technician has to drill holes into the property to run cable lines. Comcast requires a letter of permission from the landlord on all rental properties to do an install. This is for liability purposes.

Animals: Make sure animals are put in a separate area of the property so the technician can work properly and safely.

Working environment: Make sure the area is clean of debris. Make sure crawl space and basement doors are unlocked, unblocked and accessible. A technician cannot crawl under a house with water or sewer leaks.

Electricity: Make sure the address has electricity turned on before the technician arrives.
